To My Dearest Timi
Last night the storm sang wild and fierce,
Rain beat the earth like a thousand tears.
If you were here, you’d climb to my bed,
Hide in my arms, where fears always fled.
You trembled at whispers, at shadows so near,
Yet now on the Dog Star, there’s nothing to fear.
Silence surrounds you, soft and deep,
A gentle sky cradles your eternal sleep.
Still, Mama whispers, words never done,
I keep your treats, your cans one by one.
Perhaps one day, through heaven’s dome,
You’ll find your way back, and come back home.
